Meet Our Teachers!

Susanne Jacobsen, Director

As the founder of Lingua Language Academy, Susanne is passionate about customer service and language learning, and enjoys helping parents raise bilingual children. Born in Austria, Susanne is a natural entrepreneur. Not only did she start GoHypersonic Inc., an aerospace design consulting company, but she has also managed conferences and exhibits for the American subsidiary of the EADS in Washington, D.C., and served as a member of the Ritz-Carlton Hotels Management Team.

Melissa Wagner, Operations Manager

Melissa is the mother of Lingua Language Academy's first student. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Wright State University, Melissa brings a strong financial and marketing background to the school. Above all else, Melissa feels fortunate to work in a child-friendly environment focused on academic learning.

Marisol Pina, Spanish Program Manager

After graduating from Mexico's Instituto Tecnologico de Sonora with a degree in Psychology, Marisol taught classes on psychology, infantile development, and the humanities. She has also worked as a teacher and academic coordinator for secondary schools in Mexico. Marisol currently leads Lingua Language Academy's Spanish Immersion Program.

Ana Pérez de Reckziegel, Spanish Instructor

Originally from Puebla, Mexico, Ana earned a degree with an emphasis on Kindergarten Education from Escuela Normal de Educadoras Particular in Puebla. She later earned a Montessori Diploma after studying its principles and practices in Perugia, Italy. Ana has experience as a Kindergarten teacher, an interpreter for businesses, a placement representative for a Latin American magazine, a Spanish instructor for Dayton-area Catholic schools, and as a Spanish Immersion teacher.

Michelle Mize, French Instructor

Michelle received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French and Masters of Education in French from Ohio State University, where she hosted a French radio show. She has also studied at the University of Burgundy in Dijon, France. A licensed teacher of French Education for pre-K to 12, Michelle currently teaches French at Lakota Local Schools in Butler County, Ohio, and serves as an Adjunct Professor at Wright State University.

Noriko Ueda, Japanese Instructor

Noriko received both her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Physical Education and Leisure Science from the University of Tokai in Kanagawa, Japan. She presently holds a teaching license from the Ministry of Education in Japan, and an Associate of Applied Science degree from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. Having taught and coordinated language programs for non-native speakers, Noriko now works as a 2nd Grade teacher at the Western Ohio Japanese Language School in Troy, Ohio.

Sylvia Phillips, Italian/Spanish Instructor

Sylvia is fluent in Spanish, Italian, and English. After earning a Bachelor of Applied Linguistics Degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Mexico, and acquiring diplomas for both English and Italian, Sylvia worked as an Italian professor in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She plans to study German and Portuguese in the future.

Amy Sterling, Chinese Instructor

Born in Taiwan, Amy is a member of the Ohio Association of Teachers of Chinese at Ohio State University, and works at the Dayton Chinese Language School, the Dayton Christian School System, and the Academy at Minds in Motion in Springboro, Ohio. Amy also serves as a substitute teacher at the Miami Valley School in Dayton.
